A friend's status update today:
"A little help please? My mom is doing a civil rights unit in her 4th grade classroom. They are looking at gay rights in addition to the usual study of MLK, Rosa Parks, etc. They are looking for leaders in the Gay Rights movement to study. Other than Harvey Milk, any suggestions? She also wants to highlight lesbian leadership, and other than Rea Carey I'm drawing a (really sad) blank...."
A glimpse into what's going on in your local school. Makes me not want to send my kids there.
Clarification... this is not Pine-Richland. I don't know where this woman teaches. But it's just more proof of the increasing liberalism being taught in schools today . We live in a fairly conservative area of the country, so it may be a while before we see stuff like this.

Is this at Pine Richland? If so, I am going to call a school board member I know and question it.
holy cow! 4th grade?!?!?!? that's just crazy.
I would be surprised if it was PR, but you never know anymore.
another professional in the field suggested we consider asking written permission to recite the pledge with the children...
