TN Vacation... part 2

Roan Mountain State Park is located about 10 miles from where we stay in TN. There are so many beautiful trails, rhododendron gardens, the round bald at Carver's Gap, and the pool! The parking area at Carver's Gap. You can see the "Welcome to North Carolina" sign in the background.

On our way up to the round bald... It was very windy.

We made it! The last time we hiked up there, I was pregnant with Sam. We wanted to wait a few years until the boys could walk the whole way up and down themselves before we tried it again. This time, I ended up carrying Sam a little bit at the very top and some on the way down.

You don't see this every day...

At the rhododendron gardens...

At Bays Mountain in TN

Having fun after a picnic lunch.

On the boat ride around the lake at Bays Mountain, Sam picked up the log the beavers had gnawed on

We stopped here and ate lunch. Beautiful spot overlooking Watauga Lake, TN. Then we proceeded to find the most difficult (Dan bushwacked through some crazy dense forest to find the cache chained to a tree!) and oldest (30 years old!) geocache we've found to date.

Hot from caching in the woods and ready to cool off in Watauga Lake

Relaxing
