Kisses

Sam and Isaiah are both enjoying the Toy Story movies. Sam has started giving kisses and hugs like the main characters. So, next time you see Sam, ask him for a Woody, Buzz, or Jessie kiss. My favorite is the Woody kiss. "I've got a snake in my boot." =)

What's up

I haven't blogged in awhile. There's no good reason. I guess nothing really extraordinary has happened in the last few days. We're all still adjusting to my new school schedule and trying to fit in our normal activities when we're all together. So here are some updates:
  • I'm determined to drink more water so I have enough energy for family, church, and school stuff. I meant to drink more today, but it just didn't happen. =/
  • Sam has his speech evaluation in the morning, so we'll know tomorrow if he'll qualify for services.
  • Hopefully Isaiah will start going to Awana this week. Since he's not in school, I want to make sure he still has social opportunities. He was excited when I first mentioned it to him, then changed his mind and said he didn't want to go. So we'll see what happens. I've heard that Awana is a great program, so I hope it works out.

Jesus with dirty feet

In the Kingdom of God, "The King of Self, and the Duke of Success, and the Queen of Convenience are completely dethroned."
This quote from Jesus with Dirty Feet by Don Everts really hit me, especially the convenience part. How many times do we wait to serve God, help someone, or take action until it's the right time? Something I've noticed, is that it's rarely the "right time" in our eyes. Excuses are so easy to come up with. We can always be too busy with something.

Here's another quote, just for comic relief: "Calling a church a building is like calling a Jesus Follower a two-by-four."

Snacks

The other day, I saw a commercial for Yoplait Whips that recommended you put them in the freezer. It looked good, so I decided to try it. According to myself and four kids, they are delicious! They kids thought it was ice cream. Key Lime and Chocolate seemed to be the biggest hits. I'm not sure if it's the light and fluffy texture that makes this work or if you could freeze any yogurt. Too bad I didn't try this frozen treat earlier in this HOT summer!

God's provision

Two examples from this past week:
  1. My car battery died on Monday because I didn't get the side door closed all the way, and the dome lights were on for about four hours while I was at school. I started roaming around campus, asking if any of the few people still hanging around had jumper cables. The first four or five people I asked had none. I went back to the car, about to call AAA when a minivan pulled in next to me. I recognized the family and asked if they could help. It turns out that the dad used to be a mechanic! Not only did he help me jump the car, but he checked the tires, alignment, battery terminals, struts, oil, coolant, and a bunch of other things. What a blessing! I really felt that God sent just the right person into the parking lot at just the right time to help me out and remind me that He will always provide.
  2. I had to talk to someone at school about a possible issue. I was a little concerned about how this fellow teacher would take my point of view. Turns out this fellow teacher beat me to it, and we were on the same page the whole time. So that was another blessing, just that we were in agreement and there was no conflict.
